Jara Velilla, a graduate of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of San Jorge, has spent four years at the Adidas world headquarters in Germany creating the marketing strategy and creativity of football campaigns globally
Jara Velilla’s story begins when an injury playing football kept her down two weeks. During that time he took the opportunity to update his resume and dive on the Adidas website, because he knew that Spain’s offices were in Zaragoza. “I saw a Global Marketing Manager Football position in Herzogenaurach (Germany) and sent my application without even looking on the map where that city of impossible pronunciation was,” he recalls.
After graduating in Advertising and Public Relations in 2010 from the San Jorge University, going through different agencies in Madrid for five years, specializing in digital marketing and pursuing a master’s degree in Administration and Sports Management in the Spanish Olympic Committee, Jara got a position in Herzogenaurach , near Nuremberg, in Germany, to create the marketing strategy and creativity of Adidas soccer campaigns globally. “The campaign to launch the 2018 World Cup ball, make Mohamed Salah run through the water to show that our boots are the fastest or celebrate as high as Messi is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) are projects that for a Passionate about football as I seem a dream, ”recalls the former student.
Experiences and learning
In addition to professional successes, his projects have led him to be able to attend events that, he says, he would never have imagined, such as seeing Real Madrid win the Champions League final in Cardiff in 2017, witnessing the 2018 World Cup final in Moscow or see Xabi Alonso say goodbye to his football career at the Allianz Arena.
“Every time I return home, the first thing I see when entering Villanueva is the USJ buildings and the stadium where I showed my passion for football. Then my mind makes a review full of good memories and I realize how lucky I am and how you have to pursue your dreams as impossible as they may seem, ”concludes Jara.
