The social economy stands out in Spanish universities, as reflected in the report ‘The Social Economy in postgraduate university training. Academic year 2023-2024’, directed by CEPES and which increases by 55%.

The most relevant chair is the UNESCO Chair of Social and Solidarity Economy, the first in the world. The document describes both the training modality (online or face-to-face) and the subjects linked to the social economy have changed over the years, incorporating new concepts. Concepts such as social entrepreneurship, circular economy, sustainability or innovation have been acquiring greater prominence to the detriment of other concepts such as social intervention (dependency, cooperation, etc.).

The aim is to include the social economy in the educational system and introduce all academic, political and social agents so that schools, vocational training centers, institutes, more universities and other centers join the teaching and research of this business model to establish a specialized and broad offer that contributes to creating, administering and managing companies and entities of the social economy of the future with professional efficiency.
