Vocational Training students who decide to continue their studies at one of the public universities may validate up to 30 credits. This represents about five subjects and half of an academic year (60 credits). This has been confirmed by the Ministry of Education after a meeting with university officials.

Thus, for example, a Chemistry FP student who finishes the cycle and decides to enroll in the degree will be able to validate five of the 40 subjects that a university degree usually includes. The decision still needs to be finalized to apply it, and for the moment the Autonomous Secretariat of Universities has met together with the Secretariat of Education. This decision will affect the higher level training cycles of Vocational Training, the studies of the Higher Institute of Artistic Education and the University degrees.

It is the first time that said recognition of credits will be reciprocal, allowing university students who access higher vocational training cycles to benefit from it.

The agreement also represents recognition of the arts teaching that has been waiting for decades.

The meeting was a first contact to start working and establish collaboration synergies between the Department of Education, Universities and Employment and the vice-chancellors for studies and students of the five Valencian public universities.

This recognition agreement, which will be carried out in collaboration with the general vocational training directorate of the Department of Education, Universities and Employment, will allow vocational training students to continue their training in public universities, recognizing at least 30 credits.

On the other hand, it has also been agreed to work together to update the regional regulations that regulate the authorization procedure and implementation of new university degrees. This rule, order 86/2010 of November 15 “procedure for the implementation of official university degrees, master’s and professorships”, is very outdated in relation to the state framework that is regulated in Royal Decree 822/2021 by the which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality.

Likewise, at the meeting it was also agreed to collaborate to facilitate the processing of students’ curricular practices and the management of the corresponding social security contribution.
