#BCWP23 #foodforchange The Basque Culinary World Prize was created to celebrate this evolution: to highlight the diversity and scope of this phenomenon in which gastronomy has become a powerful force for change, to highlight a movement inspired by revolutionaries like Dan Barber, Rene Redzepi, Jamie Oliver, Alice Waters and José Andrés, among others, who have been working for decades to take gastronomy further, positively impacting society.
This award rewards a chef of any nationality who demonstrates how gastronomy can have a positive impact in fields such as culinary innovation, health, nutrition, education, the environment, the food industry, social or economic development, among others.
Each year an interdisciplinary jury, made up of some of the world’s most influential chefs, academics and experts, chooses the candidate who best embodies the mission of this unique global award, awarded and promoted by the Basque Culinary Center (BCC) and the Basque Government to through the framework of the Euskadi-Basque Country Strategy.

In 2023, BCWP aims to continue strengthening and celebrating the transformative power of gastronomy. In its eighth edition, BCWP is consolidating itself as a multiplying and inspiring phenomenon around the work of chefs who take advantage of the talent, knowledge and creativity that distinguishes them, to generate impacts in areas such as science, health, innovation, education, social and/or economic development and the environment.
