VET in the Basque Country has been awarded in the prestigious awards organised by the WFCP (World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics), the World Federation of Vocational Training Centres and Associations. And not only once, but with up to three recognitions for excellence, in an international competition in which the best centers and the most innovative training projects from around the world participate.
The jury highlights all the recognized projects, including the Basque ones, as practices to be followed worldwide.
The Basque projects awarded in The 2020 Awards of Excellence, are:
- HETHAZI, Challenge-Based Collaborative Learning Model. It has obtained the Silver recognition in the category Access to Learning and Employment. Coordinated by Tknika-Centro de Investigación Aplicada de Euskadi (dependent on the Department of Education), it is an active teaching and learning methodology that is already implemented in more than 70 VET centres in the Basque Country. In ETHAZI cycles (or high performance cycles) the central element on which the entire learning model is articulated is collaborative learning based on challenges. Under this methodology, more than 7000 VET students are trained in the Basque Country.
- Ikasenpresa, program for entrepreneurial culture. It has obtained the silver recognition in the category Entrepreneurship (Entrepreneurship). VET students develop entrepreneurial skills and attitudes through the creation – in the classroom itself – of educational companies or Ikasenpresas. The students start a small company in which they carry out all the activities of the same, from the corporate image or the administration, to the marketing or the sale. Coordinated by Tknika and implemented in 82 VET centres in the Basque Country, under this methodology more than a thousand educational companies are created in which more than 5,000 students participate.
- Real World Problems Solving In A Solidary Tvet, initiative of CIFP Don Bosco (Errenteria). He has obtained the bronze recognition in the Higher Technical Skills category. This method of work implemented by the CIFP Don Bosco consists of developing with the students solidarity projects and social content using innovative technologies (Robotics, Internet of Things, 3D Printing).
